OVERVIEW. This part cites film-media productions, including silent and sound motion pictures, photographic sets such as film strips and other transparency products, 3-D filmbased productions, and stereographs; and electronic-image media like videos, CDs, DVDs, and some broadcast productions (particularly those that have been redistributed in electronic media). These citations include items for younger audiences. Resources that are accessible only online are not included. (Publications that are only compilations of halftone or similarly mass produced images, such as view books for the tourist market, are cited in Part 2 [GENERAL PUBLICATIONS].)
Appendix 1: General Guide to Commercially Produced 3-D Transparency Products
This appendix provides basic information pertaining to two of the popular three-dimensional view products of the 20th century; specifically, those produced by View-Master and Tru-Vue. Other products are added as they are discovered. This is not a comprehensive guide, for which there is a profound amount of information in web-based sources, including title lists, production guides, information on variants, and histories.
Appendix 2: General Guide to Commercially and Governmentally Produced Stereographs
This appendix provides basic information pertaining to stereographs produced by commercial
interests and government (or government-sponsored) agencies. This is not a comprehensive
guide, for which there is a profound amount of information in web-based sources,
including title lists, production guides, information on variants, and histories. The products
cited here are those that have come to the compiler’s attention.
