Part 14

SOCIOLOGY, RECREATION, EDUCATION, ECONOMICS, AND RELATED SUBJECTS IN THE GRAND CANYON–LAKE MEAD REGION

Commentaries, themes and analyses relating to sociological, recreational, educational, and economic issues for Grand Canyon and vicinity

OVERVIEW. This part lists analytical studies and reports that relate to socio-economic concerns, including visitor appreciation and social “quality of wilderness” studies, and items pertaining to teaching and program instruction about the human and natural history of the Grand Canyon and Colorado River. Because the waters of Lake Mead encroach upon the lower portion of Grand Canyon, for bibliographical convenience this part is expanded to include all items that relate to social and other issues in the Lake Mead region overall. Added here are educational and other materials that thematically embrace the greater Grand Canyon region, the activities of which are not necessarily conducted in the region itself.
